Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a preventable and treatable disease that is characterized by restricted airflow in the airways that is not completely reversible, even after treatment. The disease is usually progressive and is due to an inflammatory reaction of the lungs to harmful particles or gases. Episodes of acute exacerbation of these symptoms (exacerbation, exacerbation) are common. Patients over the age of 40 are affected, most often smokers or people exposed to domestic or occupational risk factors. The cause of COPD is a combination of genetic and environmental factors, the most aggressive of which is smoking.
